Attractions
Boise is ranked as one of the top places to live in the United
States for more than a few reasons. Its unique location and accessibility to
surrounding attractions make it a prime location to travel from in the
Northwest. Bogus Basin, a ski resort that is open on average 140 days a
year, is located just 16.5 miles north of the city of Boise. Its average
snowfall of 250 inches makes it an excellent ski resort that is within
20 minutes of the city.
The Boise River flows through the heart of the city, and on any given
weekend during the summer, one can expect to see more than 2,000
'floaters' going down the river. These residents of Boise and the
surrounding areas flock to the river in the summer to enjoy the sun and
the relaxing atmosphere of the river.
Boise also has its own minor league baseball team, the Boise Hawks. This
team's stadium is located in the heart of the city, and draws fans out
on the weekends and throughout the week as well.
Another sport attracting fans throughout Idaho is hockey. The Idaho
Steelheads play out of downtown Boise, and have done so for the last ten
years. Fans come and cheer on their home team from all over Idaho.
Community
Boise has a very large and dynamic community that is constantly striving
to make Boise a fun, family-safe place to live. Many community
outreaches take place all year long, and are sponsored by a wide array
of organizations, from Churches and non-profit organizations to
corporations and local businesses.
Boise State University, located in the center of Boise just a few miles
from downtown, draws students from all over the world looking to better
their educations and start their successful careers. An average of
18,600 students come to Boise State University for their degrees, and
their presence in the city gives Boise a young, energetic atmosphere.
Boise State University's Broncos football team is another source of
pride for the residents of Idaho. On January 1, 2007 they went on the to
Fiesta Bowl in order to compete with the Oklahoma Sooners. Boise seized
an overtime victory in a game that was hailed by ESPN as "A game unlike
any college football has ever witnessed."1
Investment Opportunity
Boise has seen an incredible amount of investment activity within the
last few years. Maintaining a steady appreciation rate when national
appreciation rates spiked and dropped, Boise investors enjoyed
dependable rates that were extremely competitive. Idaho now outranks
every state in the United States with the highest appreciation. An Idaho
Year-To-Date appreciation rate of 17.52% was recorded at the end of
November, 2006 by the OFHEO. This is more than double the national
appreciation rate, making Boise and its surrounding areas an excellent
place for future and current investments.
